Sir Chantz R.Powell, 34-years old from New Orleans, is an international recording artist and powerhouse entertainer. Chantz is part of a new generation of young artists who have discovered great music… old school meets new school… think, Sammy Davis, Jr. meets Usher.
In July 2009, Chantz was requested as a headliner for the Oprah “Cruise of a Lifetime” on the NCL Gem Cruise Ship.
Since the age of 15, this singer, trumpeter, dancer, songwriter, producer, and actor has been a headliner before crowds of 40,000+ throughout Asia and Europe. Produced by French director/photographer Mohammed Kounda and initially released in London as My Louis Armstrong Years, the documentary received international acclaim and nomination consideration in the “Best Documentary” category at The Cannes Film Festival.
The brilliantly chronicled documentary spans five years, showing the remarkable transformation of a 12-year-old Jazz-loving student evolving into a seasoned professional among his mentors and peers, Wynton Marsalis.
